Yumi Endo is a Japanese, New York-based designer with a passion for art, design and technology. She was born in Niigata, Japan, to a father who was a telecommunication engineer, and a mother who was a kindergarten principle.

She often wishes she could have met her great grandfather, who was a skillful woodworker/product designer.

Yumi’s earliest formal training in art was in ballet when she started taking lessons at the age of three, which she still practices to date.

Her interest in new media grew as a child as her father brought home early word processors and personal computers manufactured by his company.

She currently works full-time at frog design in NYC, where she focuses on creating meaningful digital experiences for many internationally acclaimed clients including GE, Nokia, Microsoft, Bloomberg, and Rockefeller Foundation (Asia Society).

She is also an owner/designer of jewelry brand, Cut by endo design, which has been showcased in International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) in NYC and on runways. Her jewelry collection features unique geometric forms inspired by architectural and biological structures and are manufactured using emerging fabrication processes.

While at Parsons School of Design, Yumi’s team was awarded the grand prize in the Nokia International Mobile Game Design Competition. She was also a fellowship recipient of Open Society Institute’s Initiative’s program in Public Health, funded by Soros Foundation. She has spent eight weeks in Brasov, Romania to collaborate with Hospice Casa Sperantei (Hospice of Hope) on branding, media strategy and training of the hospice staffs.

Yumi holds a Master of Fine Arts in Design + Technology from Parsons the New

School for Design. She earned a Bachelor of Design with honors in Product and Graphic Design from University of New South Wales, Australia.
