Andreas Charalambous

Andreas was born in London, UK of Greek/Cypriot parents, and spent his childhood and adolescence on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. His early watercolors explored his surroundings on the island. He received a degree in Architecture from Cornell, where he also studied art and photography. His formal training in architecture brought a studied order and balance to his painting. Whether depicting sculpture that comes alive through his photographic lens, or Mediterranean Still Life that betrays his childhood memories, his work expresses the ordered yet romantic views of his psyche. Through the use of symbolic objects and the masterful interplay of light, color, and texture, his work exudes a dreamlike serenity. His paintings and photographs are in private and public collections in Europe, Mexico, and the United States. He worked in Washington DC, New York, and London with previous employers, before co-founding FORMA Design in 1994. Through the years, FORMA Design ( FORMAonline.com) has produced memorable, creative and thoughtful Architecture and Interior Design projects that have garnered, to date, 15 awards from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and 21 awards from the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) and has been nominated for seven consecutive years for Cooper-Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum’s National Design Awards, the nation’s highest honor for excellence, innovation, and lasting achievement in American design. His modern residential design and modern healthcare design projects have been widely published in a monograph on FORMA’s 25th Year Anniversary, as well as in over 200 local, national and international books and magazines and have been featured on several shows on national TV.
